Neighbor spotted burglars breaking into car in southeast Charlotte

Two people were charged after being accused of breaking into a car in southeast Charlotte early Tuesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Two people were charged after being accused of breaking into a car in southeast Charlotte early Tuesday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers say they arrived in the 2300 block of Calabassas Lane near Sardis Road in reference to a breaking and entering call for service. The 911 caller said they heard a car alarm going off and saw the burglars running.

Police say the caller was able to provide a description and direction of travel where the two were last seen running. Officers circulated the nearby Sardis Place Apartment and located three people. After a short foot chase, officer say they arrested Arthur Kirkpatrick and Nehemiah Harvey.

Kirkpatrick was charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Harvey was charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and served the outstanding warrants.
